Martin Luther king jr.
Martin Luther King Jr. changed
millions of people's lives from negative to positive by his ideas and actions
he brought to the whole nation of the United States. His ideas are still relevance today and
continue to mark millions of people's lives. Martin Luther King Jr not only
brought meaning and excellent ideas to the table but also he made himself a
legend, an icon, a role model, and mentor towards millions of African Americans
across the nation of the United States. He fought for civil rights and social
justice for the colored black people and brought hope to the nation that one
day each and every individual, not matter what race and color, will be treated
equally and have the freedom like everyone else. Today, his words and actions
of civil rights and social justice continue to have an impact on millions of
people's lives no matter what ethnicity and color they have in their
blood. Furthermore, MLK has its own
holiday on January 19th, where hundreds of thousands of people including
minorities don't go to work or school that day, in honor towards the legendary
Martin Luther King Jr. In August 28, 1963 Dr. King drew thousands of people to
the Lincoln Memorial at Washington D.C. In that very spot, "Dr. King
delivered his famous "I Have a Dream" speech, which cemented his
status as a social change leader and helped inspire the nation to act on civil
rights". [1] That speech inspired and helped motivate thousands of people
to believe that one day they will receive the freedom and rights they deserve
and end all the discrimination, segregation, and the lack of respect they have
encounter for hundreds of years in this nation of the United States. In
addition, of the Martin Luther King Jr's speech, there were some important
ideas and motivated words that capture a lot of people's attention, “I have a
dream, that one this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its
creed. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."[2]
This part of the speech helped witness the world that one day in the future
they will be a change in the nation and colored people will have the same
rights as whites and will be treated fairly with no laws that will helped
generate discrimination towards them. So with that being said, "The
following year, President Johnson got a law passed prohibiting all racial
discrimination." [3] If it wasn’t for Dr. King risking and sacrificing his
life as well as generating his ideas about civil rights and social justice for everyone,
no matter what color and background the come from, we probably wouldn’t have
the freedom and equal rights that everyone deserves in this very present time. There
is this saying from Martin Luther King that still helps motivate people from
all over the nation, “If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if
you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving
forward.” [4] This quote continues to marked people’s lives to not quit on
whatever they are doing and have the determination, the positive mentality that
everything will come out fine. Martin Luther King Jr changed a lot of people’s
lives, his ideas influenced a lot of hearts and minds from the past as well as
hearts and minds from today. Dr. King
itself and his ideas will continue to be remembered in the future and continue to
have a meaningful impact in this country of the United States of America.
